During the 20th century cheap and abundant energy made corrosion a manageable problem. This era is coming to an end. Soon, industry will find there is less funding available for corrosion prevention after adjusting for rising energy costs. At this time, management will be forced to decide whether to continue with traditional corrosion control practices or change to something new with a greater potential for energy savings. For many, this will be an extremely difficult decision to make.

American Finishing Resources, LLC Achieves ISO 9001:2008 Registration

03 January 2010

American Finishing Resources, LLC, or AFR, recently announced its Chilton Coatings Removal and Tooling Fabrication operations have become registered to the ISO 9001:2008 international standard.

“We feel that ISO registration is a critical element of our organization’s growth plan and something that truly sets us apart from the rest of the market,” said CEO Matt Kirchner. To attain registration, Kirchner noted, an operation must identify its value creating and support processes and their interactions, and demonstrate its ability to manage and continually improve their performance through standardized best practices.

Leo Metivier, vice president of operations for Chilton Coatings Removal and Tooling Fabrication, claims his is the first company of its kind to achieve ISO registration. The registration process required AFR to extensively manage its documentation and records, closely monitor the critical parameters of its processes, train its associates, and take the necessary actions to ensure effectiveness. Building on the successful registration of its Chilton operation, AFR plans to register its Eldridge, Iowa, and Shelbyville, Ind., plants to the same standard in the very near future.

With facilities located throughout the Midwest and stellar reputation for quality, on-time delivery and customer support, AFR is a leader in accelerating the performance of its customers’ paint lines through tooling and hanger maintenance and fabrication. AFR serves an elite group of customers, many of which are included on the Fortune 1000. AFR services the transportation, agricultural, consumer products, appliance, telecommunications, lawn & garden, contract manufacturing and surface finishing industries. Additionally, AFR offers transportation services to and from customer facilities.
